Progressive Mesh based Iterative Closest Points for Robotic Bin Picking
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper describes a hierarchical registration process using the iterative closest point algorithm combined with a Progressive Mesh. To find the exact pose of objects in a robotic bin picking process we simulate the appearance of object poses and compare them with the real range data provided by laser range sensors. The coarse pose is estimated in a first step and then refined with the well known iterative Closest Point (ICP) algorithm combined with Progressive Meshes for hierarchical object localization. We evaluate our approach with different test scenarios and show the comprehensive potential of this idea for other registration

The proposed solution of this paper deals with industrial applications of robotic bin picking. In this paper, a pose estimation approach is introduce to determine the coarse position and rotation of a known object using commonly available image processing tools applied to 3D l...
متن کاملFast Object Localization with Real Time 3d Laser Range Sensor Simulation
3D laser range sensors provide range data of objects in a scene. Most of the known approaches for object recognition and localization in range data try to extract features and determine the position of the object from this information. In opposite we create a virtual scene, make a virtual range image with a virtual 3D laser range sensor and compare the result with range data of the real 3D lase...
متن کاملIterative Visual Recognition for Learning Based Randomized Bin-Picking
This paper proposes a iterative visual recognition system for learning based randomized bin-picking. Since the configuration on randomly stacked objects while executing the current picking trial is just partially different from the configuration while executing the previous picking trial, we consider detecting the poses of objects just by using a part of visual image taken at the current pickin...
متن کاملVision Strategies for Robotic Manipulation of Natural Objects
This paper describes a vision guided robotic platform that will be used for the handling of natural products in a multi-layer stack that is typical in a bin situation. It is designed to automatically recognise non-rigid objects, to estimate their pose, and to select suitable picking points using depth information from a 3D camera. We adopted a novel approach by using a topographical method to s...
متن کاملAutomatic and Robust Semantic Registration of 3d Head Scans
A robust and fully automatic algorithm for semantic registration of laser scans of human faces is introduced. The scans are converted into a new semantically annotated topology such that topologically equivalent vertices have the same meaning. The algorithm works in three steps. First, landmark points are placed using a multi-stage variant of the iterative closest points scheme and an annotated...
